Bollywood A TO Z!!

Ever since I can remember I have always been a huge Bollywood Fan! when I was very young, I would attach my pyjama trousers to my head which acted as my “long Indian hair” and I copied the dance moves from the colourful dance sequences and my favourite thing was to act like the damsel in distress…ahh those were the days.. I still love Bollywood movies but I do not attempt the dancing routines anymore..I am not as flexible or light in weight as I used to be.. Besides I prefer the old Bollywood to the new one because all they do nowadays is to adopt western story lines and try to be more like Hollywood!!

Anyways, Im feeling nostalgic and so decided to share Bollywood and its “secrets”

Firstly here are a list of names of THE WHO’S WHO OF BOLLYWOOD!

Amitabh Bachchan, is a mini god in India , he has acted in over 200 movies. You will all remember him in movies like Sholay and The Burning Train (A personal fav!).

Salman Khan, Im not a huge fan, actually dnt see what the fuss is..anyways he can be described as Bollywood bad boy and apparently was sentenced to jail for 5 years but only did 3days. NEXT!

Karisma and Kareena Kapoor are like the Simpsons sisters and hail from Bollywood biggest acting Dynasty

Hrithik Roshan. He is Bollywood cute boy with his blue/green/hazel eyes, no wonder he gets 30,000 marriage proposals every Valentines day!

Shahrukh Khan is my absolute favourite, he is like Tom Cruise of Bollywood. I would recommend any of his movies especially Dil se and devdas

Rani Mukherjee is known as Bollywood’s finest actress and has won every kind of gong /award for her performance in bollywood blockbuster Black (2002)

MUST SEE BOLLYWOD FILMS

SHOLAY; Based on the magnificent seven, It ran for 5 years in Indian cinemas.

MOTHER INDIA; The first movie to get nominated for an oscar. Its about a woman left to raise

her two sons.

DEVDAS; The most expensive bollywood movie ever made, its about a man who spirals out of control when he is stopped from marrying his true love. It sounds like a cliché but it’s a stunning movie and has Shahrukh khan on board, so you can not go wrong!

DIL SE; It deals with terrorism and love. Its quite on the serious side but a bollywood classic!

DILWALE
DULHANIA
LE JAYENGE; This is about Asians in Britain, beautifully shot with stunning locations.

MATRUBHOOMI
;KALKI (Which means a nation without women) this movie won the audience

award in 5 different countries. Its about a village that is left without women

due to the pratice of female infanticide. It centres around a girl called Kalki

who is sold by her father to marry 5 bothers of whom plus their father take

their conjugal rights…and her father blinded by money does not help her. It’s

a must see but its not for the faint hearted.

Wedding Websites!!!!

Hmmm… The most important thing about weddings isn’t about booking a hall, church or invitations ..its all about the Wedding WEBSITE!!!!! (well..almost)

My sister is getting married soon and is thinking about setting one up… so I have been obsessing.. looking at a lot of them for ideas for her.... and mine of course (it will happen soon)..hehe

Anyways here are a few of the wedding websites I came across…. I put up their links and have commented on the things that I like and have given special Sheeka awards for different categories !

Can I just acknowledge that setting up a website is not easy at all and so just want to say well done and thanks to these lovely couples for sharing their stories, pictures, love etc…

Here goes.

http://www.yemisiandyinka.com/

I loved the intro music- African Queen By 2face.

http://www.bunmiandsegun.com/bunmiandsegun.html

Loved the aseobi(spelling?) Gold and yellow.
The bride’s dress was very nice..wasnt really feeling her bouquet of flowers..a bit over the top for me.

http://www.oizaandtare.com/oizaandtare.html

Their pictures were so intimate and lovely
Bride maids dresses were lovely, loved the colours.
The Bride’s dress was soo elegant
The reception looked like a lot of fun. The groom and grooms men were doing some kind of dance. Pity there wasn’t a lot of reception pictures

http://www.austenkay.com/austenkay.html

The proposal was off the hook, and they put up pictures as well.. Had no idea 9ja men could be so soo romantic..

http://www.nekeandkunle.weddingwindow.com/index.html

this couple looked like models, very cute. Sadly there were no wedding pics!!

http://judeanduche.weddingannouncer.com/

I loved the fact that they had wedding jokes , it was different and refreshing to read apart from the cliché stories on a wedding website

http://www.ewedding.com/v20/main.php?a=ezenduch

Ok, this is a personal opinion, I wear contacts myself but I would never wear coloured contacts on my wedding day. Natural look is always best! Having said that, the bride was beautiful and the bride maids outfits were very nice, loved their hair piece.
Gorgeous couple!

http://www.bisiandofon.com/

Another gorgeous couple.
A lot of detailed pictures .. It was like reading a fairytale book, very inspiring ..

http://www.suzzanneandtosin.com/suzzanneandtosin.html

Ok Im a bit biased here but I LOVED their intro music By N*sync (still sad that they broke up) it was fab!
Beautiful couple
Another personal opinion, I am not a big fan of the groom or grooms men wearing white…The only person that should wear white on that day is the BRIDE !
Talking about the bride, her dress was out of this world..maybe it helped that she is a size 0!
The ceremony and reception decor was beautiful…just beautiful..loved the red and yellow combo.

http://www.nikeandtunji.com/

loved their portrait picture on the website

http://www.kemiandkunle.com/home_f.asp

They had pictures of the proposal caught on camera ..very romantic !

http://www.opeandefe.com/
Only website to have an actual video dairy type thing of their story etc …very brave but sweet

http://www.emekaputsngozifirst.com/

Loved their proposal story and they caught the moment on camera
Loved the way they co-ordinated most of their outfits on their honeymoon.. Cheesy but very sweet!!!
I have to say, not a big fan of white suit on men but the groom pulled it off, and he looked very nice in white!

Thankful!

-Wow Im almost done with masters..and goin bak to work soon...im sooo overwhelmed. Im sure to some people this is not a big deal. But back in school I wasnt the brightest in the playground..well according to the school system. But ive proved them wrong..hehe

I just thought Id write a few thank yous..why? because I want to..feeling quite emotional..in a good way!

so here are my thank U's!!!!!

-Anyways first and foremost want to thank God 4 my life, he has been so good to me, He has held on to me , refusing to let me go even at my worse times. thank you for loving me. I live for you everyday.
- Thank You Mum and Dad for your support and love
- My brothers and sisters, for putting up with the old chika and her tempers (I was such a Diva!). Thanks for shaping, moulding, telling me off and bringing me back down to earth.
-Thanks to all my secondary school teachers, although most of you were so negative, forever comparing me to the top students and having no hope at all in me, thank u. It just made me more determined and stronger. Funny where these “top students” are, even funnier to think I have achieved more, but not by my own ability but through God, who has strengthened me over the years

By the grace of God??

I was speaking to a friend of mine the other day and just found out that his business was booming and so I congratulated him and said its God's will and he replied "is it? that is what everybody says"

I asked if he didn’t believe in God and faith and he said "not in that way" and gave an example. he said If someone has just achieved success in their career, does their hard work and decision making not count for anything. He said it makes him sound lazy when he gives the gratitude of his success to God. I was surprised because I have never heard a theory like this. He then added that the phrase sounds very Nigerian because with Nigerians everything boils down to God which makes people lazy

I said God is not Nigerian, most Christians I know speak that way. I advised him to leave other people that hide behind that phrase and let him concentrate on his relationship with God

On reflection, maybe he has a point because I know quite a few people that have hidden behind that phrase "…by the grace ... "If it is his will...
Every decision made as a Christian should be put to God , we should pray and leave it in the hands of God. But it can also get abused when one starts using it as an excuse and to be lazy. Phrases like ..."If God wanted me to..."..."..God would have wanted this to happen..." these people are just lying to themselves because there is a saying that goes God helps those who help themselves. God sees, hears and can tell what our intentions are. so be careful the next time you use that phrase, do u really mean it or are you hiding behind it ? stay blessed

speak no Evil!

we should try not to pollute ourselves or eachother with negative words. Do not let yourself be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.

Im sure most of us grew up in a negative environment( home, school, work etc) and the experience can bring about negative thinking and it doesnt help when you hang around people that are negative as well.

Most people and situations have a mixture of good and bad in them but God does not choose to magnify the bad in us so why do we choose to magnify the bad in others ? Love covers a multiple of sins.

This isnt talking about never acknowledging the bad things in this life but the thought that occupy our minds and also what comes out of our mouth.

we dnt hav to run to someone everytime to bitch about what the person has done. Again im not saying we shldnt talk about our problems but speak with PURPOSE!

Ive noticed it is hard not to talk about our problems because we want pity and in most cases we are wearing out people with our negative report becasue they dnt want to hear it ova and ova.
we hav a responsibility not to give negative reports and dnt to receive them. It is our responsibility to help eachother in a Godly way. lets magnify the good by being positive in our outlook, words and actions.

lets do away with slander, backbiting etc. when we speak evil of other people its usually because we think we are better than them, which can be our insercurities.

So people in chrsit, the next time u see a fine sister/brother in any sitaution, could be a in party etc. dnt roll your eyes or give evil looks instead compliment them.
Let God spk thru us. Remember we are not to use our mouths to hurt, break down or depress , but rather to heal restore and uplift.

Grouch?

Last weekend was sunny and guess what everyone was happy(no surprises there!). Im not a grouch or anything BUT town was sooo packed with wannabe Beyonces, ushers, WAGS, you name it, every kind of impersonator was out!..As I struggled to get through the crowd, I knew I should have come early in the morning. But I was half way down so I thought I would walk all the way then make my way home…but the day was saved with one of my own..a fellow Nigerian busker was playing African traditional drums and was bellowing a similar song that I hadn’t heard in ages but I noticed he replaced some words on the song and it was ashawo..ashawo!!!.. I had to laugh out loud as I watched female tourists dance to the song oblivious to the meaning!
So what can I say, this made my coming out worthwhile even though I had to crab walk(side to side) out of the happy crowd back home!
